Politifyr LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Politifyr civic transparency platform at politifyr.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Email address and password when you create an account
• Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card numbers)
• Congressional district and state (optional, for Impactscope personalization)
• Bills and members you choose to track

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data (pages visited, features used) via PostHog analytics
• IP address and browser type
• Cookies required for authentication (Supabase session)

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and maintain your account
• To process subscription payments and send receipts
• To deliver email alerts you have opted into
• To personalize the Impactscope feature to your district
• To improve the Service through aggregate usage analytics
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for political advertising or targeting.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com)
• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com)
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure (vercel.com)
• Resend — transactional email (resend.com)
• PostHog — product analytics (posthog.com)
• Anthropic — AI analysis generation (anthropic.com)

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data required for each service to function.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records). Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely.

6. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. PostHog analytics uses cookies to measure product usage in aggregate.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Opt out of marketing emails (all email alerts are opt-in; transactional emails cannot be opted out of)
• Export your tracked bills and members data

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security in our database, and hashed passwords. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but take reasonable precautions to protect your data.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. The date at the top of this page reflects the last update.
